Wow, great lecture! There’s something about hearing an enthusiastic educator that trancends the “absorb-and-regurgitate” cycle of learning. I have read the lecture posted by Bob Denham and found myself wishing I could hear or see him lecture.

I was lucky enough to listen to Brucr Powe on this subject recently at the Arts and Letters Club. The two best teachers I ever had were McLuhan and Frye. Powe knocked me out with his understanding of them, his ability to measure them with each other, and his mastery of the revealing anecdote. Don’t miss his next foray into this mythical territory if you can help it.
